The main basic processes of stamping include cutting, punching, bending, and deep drawing.
(1) Blanking and punching are the processes that separate the billet. The process of material cutting and punching is exactly the same, except for different purposes. When discharging, the separated part is the finished product, and the remaining periphery is waste material; Punching is to obtain holes, and the punched sheet metal is the finished product, while the separated part is the waste material. Blanking and punching are collectively referred to as punching. The punch and die of the punching die both have sharp edges, and there is a gap between the punch and die that is equivalent to 5% -10% of the plate thickness, to ensure that the cut is neat and less burrs.
(2) Bending is the process of obtaining various bending angles of different shapes for a workpiece. The working part on the bending die that causes the workpiece to bend should have an appropriate fillet radius r to avoid cracking when the workpiece is bent.
(3) Deep drawing: Deep drawing is the process of making flat billets into cup or box shaped parts. The punch and die edge of the deep drawing die should be rounded to prevent the workpiece from being pulled apart. There should be a gap between the punch and the die slightly larger than the thickness of the sheet metal (usually 1.1-1.2 times the thickness of the sheet metal) to reduce friction. To prevent wrinkles, the edges of the billet need to be pressed tightly with a pressure plate (edge ring). The actual deep drawing process of the product may result in tearing defects.
