Before the processing program is executed, adjust the tool position of each tool to make it coincide with an ideal reference point as much as possible. This process is called tool setting. The ideal reference point can be set at the tip of the tool or at a tool related point.
Knife alignment is generally divided into two categories: manual alignment and automatic alignment. At present, the vast majority of CNC machine tools use manual tool alignment, which includes basic methods such as positioning tool alignment, optical tool alignment, ATC tool alignment, and trial cutting tool alignment. In the first three manual cutting methods, the accuracy of cutting may be reduced due to various errors such as manual cutting and visual inspection. Therefore, trial cutting is often used to obtain more accurate and reliable results.
The determination of the cutting point position refers to the starting point of the cutting motion of the tool relative to the part when machining it on a CNC machine tool.
The principle for selecting the position of the cutting point is as follows:
1. Try to be consistent with the dimensional design or process standards of the workpiece as much as possible.
2. Try to make the programming of the machining program as simple and convenient as possible.
3. Easy to use conventional measuring tools and gauges for alignment on the machine tool.
4. The tool alignment error at this point should be small, or the possible machining error should be minimized.
5. Try to make the introduction (or return) route in the machining program as short as possible and facilitate tool changing (rotation).
6. It should be selected at a position that is suitable for the agreed mechanical clearance state with the machine tool (eliminating or maintaining the maximum clearance direction), to avoid "reverse compensation" when performing its automatic compensation.
7. When necessary, the tool setting point can be set on a certain element of the workpiece or its extension line, or on a fixture position that has a certain coordinate relationship with the workpiece positioning reference.
There are many methods to determine the position of the cutting point. For CNC machine tools with a fixed origin, manual and display functions can be used to determine it; For CNC machine tools without a fixed origin, displacement transformation algorithm, simulation positioning method, or approximate positioning method can be used to determine their accuracy requirements.
