1. Determination of the back cutting amount ap
The back cutting amount ap is determined based on the stiffness of the machine tool, workpiece, and cutting tool. Under the condition of allowable stiffness, the back cutting amount should be made equal to the machining allowance of the workpiece as much as possible, which can reduce the number of feed times and improve productivity. When the precision requirements of the workpiece are high, it should be considered to leave a suitable margin for precision turning.
