Five New National Standards for the Foundry Industry

Starting from May 1, 2022, five national standards, namely GB/T 40800-2021 "Specification for Welding Procedure Evaluation of Steel Castings", GB/T 40738-2021 "Specification for Rapid Shell Making Process of Silicon Sol in Investment Casting", GB/T 40802-2021 "General Casting of Carbon Steel and Low Alloy Steel Castings", GB/T 40805-2021 "General Technical Conditions for Delivery Acceptance of Steel Castings", and GB/T 40809-2021 "Process Specification for Semi Solid Rheological Die Casting of Aluminum Alloy Castings", will begin to be implemented. These five standards are under the centralized management of the National Foundry Standardization Technical Committee. They were approved and released by the National Standardization Management Committee on October 11, 2021, and are all newly formulated national standards. 1、 Standard number: GB/T 40738-2021

Standard name: Process specification for rapid shell making of silica sol in investment casting

Main content of the standard: This document specifies the raw and auxiliary materials used for rapid shell making of silica sol in investment casting, the technical requirements for rapid shell making process, and the inspection and testing methods. This document is applicable to the selection, process formulation, and process control of raw and auxiliary materials for rapid shell making of silica sol in investment casting.

2、 Standard number: GB/T 40800-2021

Standard Name: Welding Procedure Qualification Specification for Steel Castings

Main content of the standard: This document specifies the pre specification for welding process of steel castings, welding process evaluation, inspection of specimens and specimens, scope of application of process evaluation, and welding process evaluation report. This document is applicable to the evaluation of arc welding process for steel castings.

3、 Standard number: GB/T 40802-2021

Standard name: General purpose cast carbon steel and low alloy steel castings

Main content of the standard: This document specifies the technical requirements, inspection methods, inspection rules, identification, certificate of conformity, packaging, and storage and transportation of general cast carbon steel and low alloy steel castings. This document applies to general cast carbon steel and low alloy steel castings.

4、 Standard number: GB/T 40805-2021

Standard Name: General Technical Conditions for Delivery and Acceptance of Steel Castings

The main content of the standard: This document specifies the ordering requirements, technical requirements, inspection and testing methods, inspection rules, identification, quality certificate, packaging, and transportation of steel castings. This document is applicable to the procurement and delivery acceptance of steel castings produced by various processes.

5、 Standard number: GB/T 40809-2021

Standard name: Process specification for semi-solid rheological die-casting of cast aluminum alloy

Main content of the standard: This document specifies the terms and definitions, process flow, raw and auxiliary materials, batching and melting, melt treatment, material extraction, preparation of high/low solid slurry, slurry transfer, rheological die-casting, casting inspection and heat treatment related to the semi-solid rheological die-casting process of cast aluminum alloy. This document is applicable to the semi-solid rheological die-casting process of cast aluminum alloys.
