In precision casting, the first thing we need to do when receiving a part is to analyze the casting process. 1、 We need to understand the drawings and technical information sent to us by the customer, understand the quality objectives and requirements of the product from these documents, and break them down into some commonly used data and standards in our factory. For example, the chemical composition, mechanical properties, metallurgical quality, and so on of the product.
2、 What processes and testing methods are needed to achieve this casting in the current production environment. Can the current production equipment in the workshop produce and can the production cycle meet customer requirements. In addition, whether the product needs to be processed, how long does the mold processing cycle take, and so on. Everything is fine, the more thoughtful the initial consideration, the better, and the later work will proceed smoothly.
3、 Can the dimensional accuracy requirements of the product be achieved. Risk analysis must be done, and all risk items must be excluded before it can be considered as risk-free. For example, complex product structures, narrow grooves, numerous deep holes, long production processes, long coating and shell making cycles, and difficulty in ensuring quality, or castings requiring precision levels higher than those achievable by investment casting, are potential risks that must be considered before accepting orders, and there must be corresponding solutions.
4、 Process review. After passing the review, it enters the formal design phase. Everything before is laying the groundwork for the next stage.
1. What is determined is the casting drawing. Determine the machining allowance, pouring system position, size, etc. based on the actual condition of the parts. Due to the particularity of investment casting, sometimes only the position of the inner gate may be determined.
2. The comprehensive shrinkage rate is crucial for making molds.
3. Design of casting process flow and determination of relevant parameters for each process. For example, the injection parameters of wax molds, the number of shell layers and precautions, dewaxing parameters, roasting time and temperature, pouring temperature, heat treatment parameters, inspection standards, and so on.
4. After the above procedures are completed, the product officially enters the sample stage. At this point, the initial production process of a product is completed. In the later stage, the production process will be adjusted according to the actual situation of the sample until qualified castings are produced.
