High speed cutting (HSM or HSC) in precision parts machining usually refers to end milling under high spindle speed and high feed rate. It is an advanced machining technology that quickly entered practical applications in the 1990s and has been widely used in aerospace manufacturing, mold processing, automotive parts processing, and precision parts processing.
High speed milling technology in precision parts processing can be used for easy to cut metals such as aluminum alloys and copper, as well as difficult to machine materials such as quenched steel, titanium alloys, high-temperature alloys, and non-metallic materials such as carbon fiber plastics. For example, in the processing of aircraft parts such as aluminum alloys, there are many curved surfaces and complex structures, with material removal rates as high as 90% to 95%. Using high-speed milling can greatly improve production efficiency and processing accuracy.
